Rate: £500-£550 per day (PAYE)

We are urgently seeking three experienced Design Managers to join a major Southern Water Framework on a freelance basis with an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a high-profile water infrastructure programme within a Tier 1 contractor environment.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the design process across water and wastewater projects, ensuring compliance, programme adherence, and technical excellence. Working closely with delivery, commercial, and client teams, you will drive design solutions from concept through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process on water infrastructure projects

• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and consultants

• Ensure designs meet regulatory, technical, and safety standards

• Manage design programme, risks, and change control

• Liaise with client representatives and internal stakeholders

• Support buildability, value engineering, and cost-effective solutions

Requirements

• Engineering degree (Civil or related discipline)

• Valid CSCS Card

• Proven experience as a Design Manager within water/utilities infrastructure

• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts and framework environments

• Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills
