About the Role
We’re recruiting an experienced Mechanical Engineer for a modern, fast‑paced manufacturing site in Runcorn. You’ll ensure machinery operates safely, reliably, and efficiently by carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault‑finding, and supporting continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform PPM on mechanical equipment and systems
- Respond to breakdowns and complete reactive repairs
- Diagnose faults using root cause analysis
- Strip, inspect, repair and rebuild motors, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors
- Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
- Maintain accurate maintenance and downtime records
- Support reliability and improvement projects
- Adhere to all health & safety procedures and isolation protocols
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications (one of):
- Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship
- Level 3 Mechanical Engineering (NVQ/BTEC/City & Guilds/HNC/HND)
- Equivalent experience
- IOSH (desirable)
Experience & Skills
- Mechanical Engineer/Maintenance Technician background
- Experience in manufacturing or similar fast‑paced environments
- Strong hands‑on mechanical and fault‑finding abilities
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Experience with rotating machinery
- Skilled with workshop tools and equipment
- Strong problem‑solving skills
- Able to work independently and within a team
