What skills and experience we're looking for

The Trustees of the Kirkstead Education Trust are seeking an inspirational Headteacher who is passionate about high-quality teaching and high levels of achievement for every child at Hursthead Junior School in Cheadle Hulme. We are proud of our commitment to the academic, social and emotional development of every child and are looking for an outstanding leader who will actively promote our “REAL Wheel” values (Responsible, Enthusiastic, Aspirational, Leaders), champion the UN Rights of the Child, and confidently lead the school through the evolving landscape of education.

This is an exciting opportunity to build on the school’s significant successes and develop it further. You will share our passion for excellence and our commitment to ensuring that all children make the best possible progress. Your clear and purposeful leadership, innovative approach, and unerring enthusiasm, determination and good humour will enable you to excel in this role, with both the support and challenge of the Trustees and Governing Board.

You will need to be able demonstrate you are:

• Continually striving for excellence – with a compassionate, inclusive and caring approach
• An excellent communicator, building effective relationships with children, parents, staff, governors, trustees and the wider community
• Resilient and able to meet the challenges of school leadership, with the ability to manage budgets effectively
• Willing and able to lead new initiatives and share expertise with enthusiasm
• Passionate about prioritising children’s safety, wellbeing, mental health and pastoral care
• Outward facing and able to contribute to the strategic development of the school and the Trust
• Currently in a senior leadership role in a primary school setting
• Nurturing, empathetic, pragmatic and emotionally intelligent
