Summary
What does the Housing Options Team do?
We support people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness. The team provides advice, guidance, and practical help, working closely with charities, support agencies, and other professionals.
As an apprentice, you’ll learn how the service works and build confidence in supporting people. You’ll also gain an understanding of the laws and processes that guide our work — all through training, support, and hands‑on experience.
This role is a great first step into local government and offers real opportunities for development and career progression.
What will a typical working day look like?
You’ll be based in the office Monday to Friday (8.45am–5pm), surrounded by a friendly team who will support your learning.
You’ll contact clients by phone and email to understand their situation and help them gather the information we need.
You’ll also support the Allocations Team as part of your wider learning across Housing Services.
What do I need?
GCSE passes (Grade A to C) or equivalent in Maths and English
A positive attitude
Good people skills and confidence speaking with others
The ability to work as part of a team and also stay motivated when working independently
You don’t need previous experience — just a willingness to learn!
What training will I receive?
Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
Course length: 18 months
