University College Birmingham is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join our busy and friendly safeguarding team, part of the Student Support and Wellbeing directorate.
This role involves supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Head of FE Pastoral Support in ensuring the safety and well-being of all students, aged 16+, across both College and University courses.
The DDSL will address safeguarding concerns effectively, working 1:1 with students, and liaising with families/guardians and colleagues from academic departments. They will also advise and support staff who raise concerns.
The position requires a strong understanding of child and adult safeguarding processes and organisations locally and nationally. You will have excellent time management and communication skills and be able to deal with a crisis in a calm and effective manner.
