Our client is a highly regarded SME residential property developer based in Kidlington, delivering high-quality homes and mixed-use developments across Oxfordshire and the surrounding regions. With a strong local presence, hands-on leadership team, and a growing project pipeline, they are now seeking a Construction Buyer to join the business on a permanent basis.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Buyer who thrives in an SME environment, where collaboration, autonomy, and strong supplier relationships are central to success.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for the procurement of materials, plant, and subcontractor packages across multiple residential developments. You will work closely with site, commercial, and technical teams to ensure procurement strategies align with programme and budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities
• Procure building materials, plant, and subcontractor packages across residential projects
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and supplier agreements to achieve best value
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
• Work collaboratively with site managers, estimators, and project teams to plan procurement activities
• Manage purchasing schedules and ensure timely, cost-effective delivery to site
• Monitor costs and support effective budget control and reporting
• Maintain accurate procurement records and contribute to internal systems and processes
Candidate Requirements
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Construction Buyer within a developer or main contractor environment
• Strong understanding of construction materials, supply chains, and subcontract procurement
• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and purchasing systems
• Experience with Eque2 software would be highly advantageous
• Based within a commutable distance of Kidlington, Oxfordshire
