The role is well suited to someone with a strong interest in early childhood development and inclusive education, particularly for pupils with additional needs at the start of their learning journey.
The role
You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo and specialist professionals to support children with a range of needs, including autism, speech and language difficulties, ADHD, sensory processing needs and developmental delay. Support is delivered through structured, play-based learning that promotes communication, emotional regulation and early independence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support within the Early Years setting
- Supporting children to access the curriculum through play-based, child-centred learning
- Assisting with communication, social interaction and emotional development
- Helping children to establish routines and build early independence skills
- Supporting with personal care where required, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Promoting positive behaviour and a calm, nurturing learning environment
The school

- A well-resourced Early Years environment
- A strong culture of collaboration and inclusion
- Supportive leadership with a clear focus on staff wellbeing
- Ongoing professional development and SEND-focused training
The ideal candidate
This role would suit someone who is:
- Experienced in Early Years and/or SEND support, or keen to develop in this area
- Patient, reflective and motivated by inclusive practice
- Confident supporting children with complex developmental and personal care needs
- Able to respond calmly and consistently to behaviour and emotional challenges
- Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
