We are seeking an experienced and confident Nursery Manager to lead our team and oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery. This role is suited to an established manager with proven leadership experience of a setting that drives consistently high standards of care and education.
The Role
As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, organisation, and performance of the nursery. You will create a warm, safe, and stimulating environment where children thrive, staff feel supported, and families feel valued.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring full compliance with EYFS, Ofsted, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements.
Lead, inspire, and manage the staff team, providing clear direction, mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), taking full responsibility for safeguarding practice, training, and referrals.
Ensure high-quality planning and delivery of the EYFS and the Happycrew curriculum.
Build strong, trusting relationships with families, external agencies, and professionals to support children’s emotional, social, and developmental needs.
Maintain, review, and implement policies and procedures in line with statutory requirements and best practice.
Monitor and evaluate performance across the nursery, driving continuous improvement and high standards.
Manage staffing, rotas, budgets, and resources to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the setting.
Lead and prepare for Ofsted inspections, ensuring inspection readiness at all times.
Foster an inclusive, respectful, and positive culture for children, families, and staff.
Key Holder Responsibilities
Act as a key holder for the setting, including opening and closing the nursery.
Ensure daily health, safety, and safeguarding checks are completed and recorded.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare / Early Years (Level 5 or above preferred).
Proven experience as a Nursery Manager within an early years setting.
Strong, in-depth knowledge of the EYFS framework and early childhood development.
Excellent understanding of safeguarding, child protection, health & safety, and compliance.
Confident leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Experience supporting children with SEND is highly desirable.
Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding training (or willingness to undertake).
