Full time, fixed term contract to January 2028

Could you champion one the world’s most treasured landscapes?
We’re seeking a passionate and dynamic communications and engagement professional to deliver two high profile Lake District projects through to January 2028: Love Windermere and the English Lake District World Heritage Site.

You’ll relish tackling challenging issues, thrive managing multiple stakeholders and love using your creativity to make an impact.

If you’re driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact and help care for our globally significant landscape, then we want to hear from you.

What’s it like to work with us?
Our people are passionate about the landscape and proud of the role they play in looking after it for the nation. We are innovative and agile in our approach to work, ensuring we get the best from our resources.

We’re a medium size organisation, which puts us in a good position to be adaptive and able to act on our decisions. Our staff know each other and can quickly form workplace relationships to make great team players and problem solvers.

You’ll work in the Communications team on two projects: Love Windermere and the English Lake District World Heritage Site. You’ll be line-managed by our Head of Communications and Engagement and will have regular matrix management relationships with project teams.

We operate a hybrid way of working combining working from home and days at our office base at Wayfaring House, Kendal. You’ll be provided with a laptop to enable you to access our secure IT network when working remotely.

The role
Your main duties and responsibilities will be to:
• Lead the communications and engagement for the English Lake District World Heritage Site and Love Windermere Partnership
• Collaborate closely with partners, local stakeholders, businesses and cultural organisations to amplify events and activities for both projects
• Develop and implement an ambitious marketing plan that highlights the unique heritage and natural beauty of the Lake District World Heritage Site
• Expand the reach and influence of our World Heritage brand through innovative campaigns and partnerships
• Devise and deliver campaigns to inform and engage audiences with Love Windermere Partnership’s Action Plan, demonstrating delivery, accountability and transparency
• Create, curate and deliver regular, engaging stories about actions to improve water quality in Windermere
• Work with Love Windermere partners through the Communications and Engagement workstream to integrate messaging across partner channels and audiences.
