Are you a nurturing and resilient Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with autism and behavioural needs?
TeacherActive is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Salford to recruit a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant. This role involves providing tailored support to a child with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated challenging behaviour within a Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 classroom (exact year group TBC).
This is a full-time position and would suit someone with a calm, consistent and empathetic approach who can build strong relationships and support emotional regulation.
Key Responsibilities:-
Provide 1:1 classroom-based support to a pupil with ASC and behavioural needs

Use strategies to support communication, sensory needs and emotional regulation

Follow and contribute to behaviour support plans and EHCP targets

Work closely with the class teacher, SENCo and external agencies

Encourage independence, build trust and foster a safe, inclusive environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:-
Have previous experience working with children with autism and challenging behaviour

Be confident in managing behaviours calmly and positively
-
Be patient, reliable and emotionally resilient

Have strong communication and teamwork skills
-
Hold a Level 2 or 3 TA qualification – desirable, not essential

Unqualified applicants will be considered if they have 6+ months experience in a UK primary school setting
