Create brighter futures. Shape your own.

If you're looking for a role where every day has purpose and you can make a meaningful difference to people in your local community, you'll find it here.
Discovery is a leading not-for-profit organisation supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism across Somerset and Cornwall. We're proud to help people live the lives they choose—independently, confidently, and with joy.

We're now looking for Floating Support Workers to join our Peripatetic Team in North Somerset. In this role, you'll work across different homes and services, offering flexible, person-centred support wherever it's needed most.

What makes this role different?

Floating Support Workers bring energy, adaptability, and compassion to a range of teams. No two days are the same—your work will be guided by the people you support, their routines, and their goals.

You'll have varied shift patterns due to the nature of covering multiple services. This includes early, late and occasional sleep-in shifts depending on the needs of each home.

You'll be supported by our Senior Resource Allocation Manager, along with the leadership teams in each service you work in.

What you'll do

You'll help adults with learning disabilities live fulfilling, independent lives. This could include:

- Building meaningful, trusting relationships

- Supporting people with activities they enjoy, both at home and out in the community

- Encouraging independence and confidence

- Helping with daily living tasks such as meal preparation, finances and personal care

- Supporting individuals who use wheelchairs or communicate in non-verbal ways (full training provided)

- Working closely with colleagues to provide consistent, high-quality support

You don't need previous care experience—just a caring approach, willingness to learn, and the values that align with ours. We'll provide full, paid training, plus opportunities to complete recognised qualifications and grow your career.

What we need from you

As a Floating Support Worker, you'll need to be comfortable with:

- Travelling within approximately an hour of your home

- Supporting people with diverse and sometimes complex needs

- Working a flexible rota across varied shift patterns (early, late and occasional sleep-ins)

- Working alternate weekends

- Using your own car for work-related travel and holding (or being willing to obtain) business insurance

Your benefits

- A full list of rewards can be found in the job description

- Paid training and career development opportunities

- Meaningful work where you directly impact people's lives

- Supportive leadership and a workplace where you can truly belong

Apply now

Applications are reviewed upon receipt, and interviews will take place on an ongoing basis until the posts are filled.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role (cost covered by Discovery).
