We are seeking a caring and dedicated Support Worker to support a friendly, happy little boy with complex needs in his daily life. He has a diagnosis of profound learning disabilities and is non-verbal, communicating through facial expressions. By building a trusting relationship and spending quality time with him, you will learn to understand his communication and support him effectively.
He also has cerebral palsy and requires gastrostomy feeding. Due to his disabilities, he needs consistent support to ensure his safety, meet his health needs, and provide meaningful social interaction. Having a Support Worker will give his family a well-deserved break from their caring role, while allowing him to enjoy time and experiences with others.
Given his complex needs, experience supporting children or adults with physical disabilities would be ideal. The role involves the use of a track and hoist, for which full training will be provided. Training will also be given in medication administration and providing nutrition via his gastrostomy tube. You will spend time with the family to learn routines and ensure consistent, person-centred care.We would like him to access clubs, activities, and stimulating experiences outside of the family home, supporting his development and encouraging meaningful interactions as he grows.
This role includes personal care, such as changing pads/nappies and supporting personal hygiene. If you are a positive, proactive, and friendly individual who enjoys a varied and rewarding role, we would love to hear from you.
