Are a foundation trainee pharmacist, newly qualified pharmacist or a pharmacist looking for a new career in hospital pharmacy? Maybe you are looking for a move to the Greater Manchester area or you are looking for a change of direction and have always had an interest in Mental Health - if so this job is for you!

We are offering an exciting opportunity for qualified pharmacists, foundation trainee pharmacists (due to register August 2026) and those looking to make the move from community or acute hospital trusts into the world of Mental Health Secondary Care.

This is a rotational post and will give you experience working across many of our sites over the whole of the Greater Manchester footprint. This role will help you build up your skills and prepare you for a career in Hospital Pharmacy and Mental Health going into the future.

The role is a progression post, with the aim to develop you into a band 7 pharmacist and beyond within our organisation, subject to competency based achievements.

We have the opportunity for enthusiastic pharmacists to join our well-established clinical pharmacy team and help provide excellent care to the patients of Greater Manchester.

Mental health experience is not essential as full training will be offered in house.

Following investment in our pharmacy service and recent implementation of our EPMA system, this is a fantastic time to join our expanding team:
• We are committed to supporting personal development including the opportunity to complete a funded Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy & non-medical prescribing where appropriate.
• Working as a pharmacist within a supportive team and under the guidance of experienced senior clinical pharmacists, you will follow a structured rotation.
• Be an integrated member of the pharmacy team providing a dedicated, safe and effective, patient centred clinical service across the trust, providing high quality pharmaceutical care to all our patients.
• During your progression, you will have the opportunity to rotate through varying specialities such as acute adults of working age, psychiatric intensive care units (PICU), older adults & later life, child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), forensic services, rehab & our award-winning substance misuse unit.
• Opportunity to contribute to service development and quality and safety, through ward rounds, audits and education.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over7000members of staff, who deliver services from more than160locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, Manchester, Salford, Trafford and Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond as well as prison pharmacy services to a number of prisons throughout the North West.

Prestwich Hospital site is a base for many of our pharmacy professionals, where the specialist services such as CAMHS, substance misuse and forensic services are based, with other dispensaries and clinical pharmacy services operating elsewhere within the Trust. We issue over 120,000 items a year, at a value of in excess of £2 million from the department.

Working within the pharmacy team will offer you support to develop your expertise and skills through formal training courses, supervision and regular appraisals. Our team has a wealth of clinical knowledge in a wide range of clinical specialities with a strong team of senior pharmacists. We have excellent links with local universities and as well as a variety of clinical national networks.

Our staff enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.
