Quality Engineer
Job Location: Ferndown Industrial Estate, Dorset
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum (Dependant on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with a half day finish on Friday
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a local manufacturing company for either an experienced Quality Engineer or a Graduate looking for a career to help take this company forward in the market as one of the leaders in their field.
The role will see you responsible for all aspects of the Quality Management system both internally within the business along with external partners and suppliers. The focus of the role is to support the building of a right first-time culture for both internal and external production.
This role will work closely with other functions (manufacturing engineering, design, procurement, production) in order to ensure that quality processes are successfully implemented.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute quality policies and objectives aligned with business goals.
• Ensure compliance with ISO standards, industry regulations and legal requirements where applicable.
• Promote a culture of quality and compliance throughout the organization.
• Establish and monitor robust Quality KPIs / metrics.
• Process Control and Improvement
• Ensure that robust final quality checks (FQCs) are implemented to ensure that all product being manufactured and delivered is to the required quality.
• Ensure that all product being delivered meets any applicable regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and analyse quality performance metrics.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Work in conjunction with operations and manufacturing engineering to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Establish and maintain supplier quality standards and ensure that they are being met.
• Drive inbound inspection at all sites to ensure that non-confirming parts are identified.
• Management of supplier NCRs with suppliers to ensure that non-conforming parts are corrected and corrective actions are implemented to prevent any reoccurrence of issues.
• Implementation of a robust first article inspection process to ensure that new parts or parts which have been subject to a design change are inspected prior to being used in production.
• Management of customer warranty claims.
• Management of customer quality issues / complaints including direct discussions with customers to ensure that quality issues are resolved in a timely manner.
• Work in close conjunction with the Design team to ensure that new products are designed with quality in mind.
Person Specification:
• Previous experience as a Quality Engineer within Production / Manufacturing company or a Graduate (Engineering Discipline) looking for the next step in their career.
• Knowledge of assembly techniques
• Experience of inspection techniques for goods in quality checking
• Experience of working within a production / manufacturing engineering environment
• Practical and innovative
• Dynamic approach
• Computer Literate
