Summary
Elwood Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a valued client - a specialist West Midlands provider with multiple services delivering high-quality care and support to children and young people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, complex needs, and emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
As a Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping positive outcomes for children and young people in looked-after care. You’ll lead by example, support and develop your team, and help drive excellence across the service.
About the Role
As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the shift, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and staff support at all times.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing strong, visible leadership and acting as a positive role model
• Leading shift planning, handovers, and daily routines
• Managing rotas and staffing levels to meet care and regulatory requirements
• Supervising, mentoring, and supporting Residential Children’s Workers
• Supporting care planning, record keeping, and medication administration where appropriate
• Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
• Ensuring safeguarding is always a top priority
• Providing on-call support when required
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• Proven experience working in residential children’s care
• NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
• A full UK driving licence
• A flexible, resilient, and child-centred approach
• A genuine passion for making a difference and working towards shared goals
Skills & Attributes:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Confident, supportive, and approachable leadership style
• Kind, caring, and resilient nature
• Basic IT skills
