Elwood Recruitment is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a valued client - a specialist West Midlands provider with multiple services delivering high-quality care and support to children and young people with mental health needs, learning disabilities, complex needs, and emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
As Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality, child-centred care. You’ll help lead the home, develop staff, and ensure excellent outcomes for children and young people in a safe, nurturing environment.
About the Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the effective day-to-day running of the home in collaboration with the registered manager, maintaining high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance, while promoting a positive and supportive culture for both young people and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supporting the Registered Manager with the overall management of the home
• Leading, supervising, and developing the staff team
• Ensuring compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted standards
• Promoting safeguarding, risk management, and high-quality care practices
• Supporting care planning, reviews, and accurate record keeping
• Deputising for the Registered Manager when required
• Supporting rota management and staffing to meet the needs of the service
• Building positive, trusting relationships with children and young people
• Being flexible to support shifts and sleep-ins when required
About You
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• Significant experience working in residential children’s care
• A relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare (Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards)
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, legislation, and Ofsted requirements
• A full UK driving licence
• A flexible, resilient, and child-focused approach

• Confident and supportive leadership style
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Calm, professional, and resilient under pressure
• Good IT and report-writing skills
• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people
