Summary

About Dimensions

You can bring your whole self to work and be celebrated for it. Inclusion, respect, and practical support ensure you feel seen, supported, and valued, so you can thrive alongside the people we support.

Dimensions is proud to be one of very few social care organisations that are accredited by the Great Places To Work programme in 2025 - now 7 years in a row!

About the role

- Female Support Worker

- Full time and part time contracts available

- Bricket Wood, St Albans, AL2

- Full UK manual driving licence essential.

You'll be supporting one woman in her 50s, living in her own bungalow within a small cluster of bungalows and flats in Bricket Wood. She receives 1:1 support at home and in the community and lives a very active life. Your role will be to help her enjoy the things she loves from going out for tea and cake, walking for miles, enjoying seaside trips, to taking caravan holidays two or three times a year. She also enjoys traditional outings such as lunch with friends.

You'll assist her with personal care, dressing (being mindful of sensory needs around clothing), bathing, medication, and preparing home-cooked meals, something she really enjoys. She is dependent on staff for daily needs, though she can complete some tasks with prompts.

It's important you feel comfortable with sensory behaviours and can support her with patience and reassurance.

Shifts vary, with starts from 7am and finishing at 10:15pm, mostly longer days with some 7.5-hour shifts. Rotas are issued four weeks in advance and include weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins (no waking nights). As she has her own manual car, you must hold a UK manual driving licence to support her.

Experience is not essential — you'll receive excellent training and shadowing from a colleague who has supported her for over 10 years.

About you

You'll be a great match if you:

- Are patient, warm, and comfortable with loud vocalisations and sensory behaviours.

- Are active and enjoy being out and about.

- Can cook and enjoy preparing home-made meals.

- Are confident driving a manual car.

- Can work flexibly across a variety of shift patterns.

- Want to make a real difference and embrace a person-centred, values-based role.
