Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Lifting Engineer to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside (NZT) project based at our site in Redcar and Cleveland.

What you'll be doing

To plan and manage safe and effective lifting operations in line with legislative, BB and project requirements. The AP role exists to lead safe operations and provide clear detail and guidance for all members of the lifting and wider construction teams.

• Develop lift plans in accordance with BB lifting policy, LOLER and any specific project
lifting requirements
• To determine the category of lifting operations, establishing lifting equipment and accessories required and producing a SSOW (lift plan) for the lifting operations ensuring lifts are planned in accordance with given legislation
• Ensure that a system for reporting defects is in place
• Select appropriate lifting accessories, including their method of attachment to the load, and any protection used to prevent damage
• Coordination of onsite lifts, lifting teams and overseeing briefings and powra’s (duty AP’s only)

Who we're looking for

• Appointed Person qualified and certified (CPCS Blue card A61) with practical/theoretical knowledge of local requirements and legislation
• Understanding of relevant information including LOLER, PUWER, BS7121 and WAHR
• 5 years’ minimum comprehensive experience in lifting operations and 2 years of planning lifting operations
