Saint John Henry Newman Catholic College is a large, vibrant Catholic secondary school. Guided by our mission statement and rooted in the teachings of the Catholic Church, we are committed to the spiritual, moral, social and academic development of every pupil.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Religious Education and Personal Development who will contribute positively to the Catholic life and mission of the school.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach Religious Education across Key Stages 3/4
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of our Personal Development programme, including areas such as PSHE, RSHE and citizenship
  • Play an active role in the Catholic life of the school, supporting liturgy, prayer and the wider mission of Catholic education
  • Inspire pupils to think critically, reflect deeply and engage respectfully with faith, ethics and contemporary issues

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Is a practising Catholic, or fully supportive of the Catholic ethos of the school
  • Has a strong subject knowledge and a passion for Religious Education and Personal Development
  • Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations of all pupils
  • Is committed to professional development and collaborative working
  • Is able to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
