Role Title: Finance Business Partner
Role Type: Contract - 10 months
Locations: Aldermaston - 2-3 days/week on site

Hours of work: Up to 37 hours per week

Overview

This role supports financial planning and cost control activities, ensuring accurate data, clear reporting, and effective engagement with stakeholders. You'll play a key part in monitoring performance, supporting budgets and forecasts, and contributing to informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

- Following established financial controls, systems, and processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability
- Assisting with the creation, tracking, and management of budgets and forecasts, including managing change impacts
- Reviewing actual spend against planned budgets and helping assess financial performance
- Contributing to regular cost reports, highlighting emerging risks, trends, and required actions
- Producing cost and financial insights to support business cases and decision-making
- Carrying out detailed cost and variance analysis, explaining impacts and recovery plans clearly
- Working closely with budget holders and stakeholders to build strong, effective working relationships
- Preparing and presenting financial information at review and budget meetings
- Supporting the development and maintenance of cost structures and financial frameworks
- Using historic data to assist with cost studies and financial modelling
- Providing benchmarking and comparative data where required
- Actively looking for ways to improve financial processes and service delivery
- Encouraging collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and a positive team culture
- Maintaining high standards across safety, security, quality, and compliance at all times

Essentials:

- Strong communication skills with confidence engaging a range of stakeholders
- A finance background with around 2-3 years' experience, ideal for someone looking to progress their career
- Experience working within the public sector
- Working knowledge of Oracle or similar financial systems
