The Role
This is a newly created role based within our growing RAFAKidz Head Office team based in Leicester. The post holder will report to and work closely with the Royal Air Forces Association’s Health and Safety Manager, Group Company Secretary and the RAFAKidz Executive Director and Operational team. The post holder will provide advice and support to all RAFAKidz settings and ensure that there is a consistent approach to Health and Safety across the group. The post holder will ensure that RAFAKidz complies with all statutory requirements and will audit settings to ensure their compliance with health and safety processes and procedures. You will have experience and understanding of Health and Safety regulations and legislation and demonstrate a strong understanding of their application in a workplace with particular regard for their application in an Early Years setting.
Primary responsibilities include
Work with the Association’s Health and Safety Manager, Group Company Secretary, RAFAKidz Executive Director and Operations Managers to review the measures that RAFAKidz has put in place and ensure that they develop and maintain an effective health and safety culture.
Ensure the implementation of the RAFAKidz Health and Safety Policy and other relevant processes and procedures and establish a Health and Dafety committee for RAFAKidz.
Support the review of the RAFAKidz Health and Safety Policy, and related policies.
Provide day-to-day health and safety advice and guidance to RAFAKidz employees to enable them to discharge their health and safety responsibilities.
Visit every setting on an agreed schedule to carry out health, safety and food hygiene audits to review compliance with statutory requirements, with particular regard to the EYFS and the associated regulatory requirements of Ofsted, the Care Inspectorates of Scotland and Wales, and RAFAKidz’s own policies.
Develop and maintain risk assessments for all settings’ activities and support the production of assessments for local site-specific risks.
Carry out internal investigations, write reports and identify lessons learnt.
Monitor the use of the online reporting and recording system, reviewing accidents and near miss reports and ensuring actions taken are appropriate. Manage Health and Safety data and produce reports as required.

About you
Previous experience in a similar role within a multi-site operation along with a minimum Level 3 qualification (eg Nebosh) is essential for success in this role. You will bring with you experience in developing policies and procedures along with detailed knowledge of the range of health and safety legislation applicable to the role. Confident in conducting audits, producing management reports and making recommendations to senior managers, you will be an organised self-starter happy to work both independently and also within a larger team. The role involves regular (scheduled) travel for which we offer time off in lieu for those occasions where you may have had longer days or overnight stays. A UK driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
