About the Role
Long Term Futures is working with a small, specialist SEMH school in the LE8 area to recruit a Teaching Assistant. The school supports pupils who have found mainstream education challenging, offering a calm, structured and nurturing environment with very small class sizes and high levels of support.
Pupils follow a personalised curriculum that blends academic learning with outdoor activities and wellbeing focused sessions. Strong relationships, clear routines and consistency are central to helping pupils regulate emotions, build confidence and re-engage with learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist learning across classroom based, outdoor and practical activities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Follow individual support plans and contribute to progress tracking
- Encourage confidence, resilience, independence and engagement
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching, sports or similar)
- Confidence managing behaviour in a calm, consistent and supportive way
- A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
