About the Role
Long Term Futures is recruiting a Teaching Assistant for a small specialist SEMH school in the LE8 area. The school supports pupils who have found mainstream education challenging and provides a highly structured, nurturing setting with very small classes and high levels of staff support.
Pupils access a blended curriculum that includes academic learning, outdoor activities and therapeutic or wellbeing-focused sessions. The approach is calm, consistent and centred around strong relationships, clear routines and personalised support.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Support emotional regulation, routines and positive behaviour strategies
- Assist learning across classroom, outdoor and practical activities
- Build consistent, trusting relationships with pupils
- Follow individual support plans and contribute to progress tracking
- Encourage confidence, resilience, independence and engagement
What We're Looking For
- Experience supporting children or young people (education, care, youth work, mentoring, coaching or similar)
- Confidence managing behaviour in a calm, supportive and consistent way
- Patient, resilient and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
- Applicants from sports coaching or mentoring backgrounds are particularly encouraged to apply
