SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Horley
Salary: £22,000 - £23,000 per annum
We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Horley, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference and supporting pupils who require consistency, structure, and understanding to thrive.
The Role:

Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs

Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
-
Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development

Help create a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment

Implement behaviour and support plans consistently
-
Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs (desirable)

Be patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations

Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills

Be flexible, proactive, and a positive team player

Have a genuine commitment to supporting pupil wellbeing and progress
Safeguarding & Compliance:

A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection is essential

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check
