Location: Nightingale Community Academy, Priory Lane Satellite Site, London, SW15 5RT
Working Pattern: 7:30am – 5:00pm (1 hour lunch) 42.5 Hours

Nightingale Community Academy is a special school in Wandsworth, providing education for boys aged between 5 to 19 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. Our primary pupils benefit from a purpose-built classroom hub, an outdoor adventure playground, weekly music lessons, and a comprehensive therapy service. Secondary and post-16 students have access to a broad curriculum, including vocational courses such as motor vehicle studies, construction, horticulture, and hospitality. All pupils also enjoy regular animal therapy sessions at Tom’s Farm, located on our expansive school grounds.

We are excited to announce the development of a new satellite site, opening after Easter 2026. This provision will offer up to 72 secondary places for boys and girls, introduced through a phased build-up over three years. Joining the team at this new site provides a unique opportunity to help shape a brand new provision from the ground up, creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment for students from day one.
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Academy Facilities Manager to join the team at our new satellite provision to ensure our school premises are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational. As Academy Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and managing the school's facilities to ensure they are safe, welcoming, and fit for purpose. This is an essential role where you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the site, managing preventive preplanned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring health and safety compliance, and supporting the smooth running of school activities and events. Your work will directly contribute to creating a positive learning environment for both students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and manage the school site: Oversee planned and reactive maintenance, keep compliance records updated, and ensure the site is safe and well maintained.
• Lead on health, safety and security: Carry out H&S checks, support emergency procedures, manage alarms and access, and maintain security systems.
• Manage contractors and cleaning standards: Coordinate contractors, ensure safe working practices, and monitor the quality of cleaning across the site.
• Deliver day-to-day premises duties: Complete basic repairs, operate heating/lighting systems, manage waste and outdoor areas, and support porterage and minibus duties where needed.
• Support wider school operations: Promote safeguarding, follow school policies, assist with lettings, and engage in training and professional development.
Key Requirements:
• A recognised training/qualifications associated with caretaking/DIY
• Driving licence (all new appointments will be required to have a clean, valid driving licence).
• Maths and English GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent
• Knowledge of basic site maintenance and good practice in building services, i.e. heating, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, security etc.
• Ability to plan and prioritise a range of regular and irregular tasks.
• Knowledge of H&S regulations and legislation include COSHH
• Knowledge of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
