Crynodeb

IT Services is responsible for providing, developing, and maintaining the University’s central IT infrastructure and the delivery of a wide range of technology-based services to both staff and students. We are now looking to appoint a Network & Infrastructure Technician to support a team of specialists in developing and maintaining the University data network and associated infrastructure including data centre provision.

Key tasks will include:

Network documentation
Patching of data circuits
Updating switch and router firmware
Low level equipment replacement
Liaising with maintenance contractors
Maintaining a safe working environment in server Wireless Deployment and maintenance rooms

With a minimum of 6 standard grades or equivalent at Level 3 or above, to include English, Maths and a Science subject or relevant Network Certification and experience of working in a Networking-related role, candidates should also have:

Strong problem solving skills, good technical grounding and ability to quickly absorb and develop technical understanding of operating systems and applications
The capacity to learn procedures and practices
The ability to work openly and cooperatively with others and to understand and respond to needs of end users
Knowledge and understanding of general computer applications and general network concepts and technologies.


Experience of working in a customer facing service would be an advantage.
