You will be supporting pupils in Hounslow and the surrounding areas, helping them develop emotional regulation, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.Duties as SEMH Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs
- Assist teachers in delivering adapted and engaging learning activities
- Help implement personalised behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies
- Promote positive communication, resilience, and constructive relationships
- Support pupils in managing challenging behaviours in line with school policies
- Encourage participation, independence, and improved self-esteem
- Monitor pupil progress and share observations with relevant staff
- Contribute to wider school life during longer-term placements
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs
- Strong understanding of de-escalation strategies and behaviour management
- Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
- Adaptable across different key stages and learning environments
- Professional, proactive, and a reliable team member
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
