The Governors at The Valley Community School are seeking to appoint a Site Manager on a permanent basis. The successful candidate should be able to carry out routine maintenance, basic repairs and monitor major works as and when required in the school holidays. Managing the work of contractors on site and monitor services that are provided externally such as cleaning and grounds maintenance is also required.
The Site Manager will be responsible for the use of school facilities out of school hours and ideally help cover additional hours when the other site manager is on holiday. In order to carry out these important responsibilities the Site Manager will be on site throughout term time and in school holidays.
The person appointed should have knowledge and skills relating to building maintenance and health and safety. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has experience of working in a public sector environment, with site management experience within a large complex organisation. The key skills which we are however looking for, are the skills to carry out repairs and minor building works, along with experience of general Site Manager duties which include statutory paperwork. Training would be given regarding the statutory paperwork. Commitment and attention to detail is required in order to maintain high standards in our busy school.
The successful candidate will need to show initiative and take pride in their work and be flexible. They will also be responsible for ensuring that all school facilities are in excellent and safe condition. The role includes elements of manual work, for example clearing snow, gritting etc and therefore a good level of fitness is essential.
Applicants will need to be an effective team member as well as work on their own initiative. They will need to be self-motivated, co-operative and have a pleasant manner. Positive and supportive relationships with staff and children will help make this challenging post rewarding and enjoyable.
Please contact the office for visits to the school on 01204 332684 . An information pack and application form can be downloaded from www.greaterjobs.co.uk . Please email all applications for the attention of Mrs D Lauder to office@thevalley.bolton.sch.uk.
The school is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. The post is subject to an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and it expects staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
