Your new company

Hays are delighted to be working with a vibrant, nurturing and forward‑thinking primary school in Coventry that places early childhood at the centre of its vision. Staff consistently speak highly of the school's collaborative culture, where creativity is encouraged, professional development is prioritised and everyone feels part of a shared, child‑centred goal.
The school is now looking for an enthusiastic and committed EYFS Teacher to join the Reception team, covering a maternity leave from after the Easter break until the following Easter. This is a full‑time role, and for the right candidate, there is a genuine opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibilities as Phase Lead. The school is keen to meet interested teachers over the coming weeks.

Your new role

  • Delivering imaginative, play‑based and purposeful learning experiences that enable Reception children to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
  • Working collaboratively with the EYFS team to ensure a consistent, high‑quality approach to early learning across the phase.
  • Following the school's EYFS curriculum while adapting provision to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support.
  • Observing, assessing and recording children's progress with accuracy and insight, using this information to inform next steps and celebrate achievements.
  • Contributing positively to the wider school community, demonstrating professionalism, flexibility and a commitment to the school's child‑centred ethos.
  • For the right candidate: taking on leadership responsibilities as EYFS Phase Lead, supporting colleagues, driving standards and helping to strengthen practice across the team.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or EYTS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching within EYFS or early primary settings, with a strong understanding of early childhood development.
  • A nurturing approach, effective behaviour management skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with young children.
  • Secure knowledge of the EYFS framework and the ability to deliver engaging, high‑quality provision.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset when working with colleagues, parents and external professionals.
  • For those interested in the Phase Lead element: confidence in supporting others, contributing to strategic thinking and modelling strong early years practice.

What you'll get in return

  • Pay aligned to your teaching scale point.
  • The opportunity to work within a supportive, ambitious and well‑led school that values its staff and invests in their development.
  • Access to a wide range of professional development opportunities, including free CPD courses and webinars through the Hays Learning Platform.
  • Easy‑to‑use digital tools to manage timesheets, book holidays, access training and explore well‑being resources via the Hays App.
  • Referral bonuses - earn £250 in vouchers when you refer a friend who completes 20 days of work with Hays.
