Job Title: Skilled Metal Fabricator / Welder
Location: Leicester (LE8 area)
Hours: Day shift Monday to Friday
Salary: £15.00 - £16.50 per hour (dependent on skills and experience)
Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sign Fabricator / Metal Fabricator to join a busy and growing sign manufacturing business based in Leicester. This role focuses on the fabrication of bespoke metal signage, including 3D letters, trays, folded returns, and custom sign structures.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fabricator with strong welding and metalworking skills to work on high-quality, custom signage projects in a fast-paced yet friendly workshop environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Fabricate bespoke metal signage components including trays, folded returns, panels, and 3D letters
* MIG and TIG weld aluminium, mild steel, and stainless steel for signage applications
* Work from job sheets, drawings, and specifications to produce accurate fabrications
* Operate workshop machinery such as pillar drills, band saws, guillotines, folders, and press brakes
* Use hand and power tools to assemble, dress, and finish signage components
* Carry out polishing, fettling, and preparation for paint or finishing where required
* Maintain high standards of accuracy, finish, and attention to detail
* Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety and quality standards
* Work efficiently to meet production deadlines in a busy signage workshop
* Support team members and contribute positively to the working environment
Experience & Skills Required
* Proven experience in sign fabrication or metal fabrication
* Competent MIG and TIG welding (aluminium, mild steel, stainless steel)
* Experience working with thin-gauge materials commonly used in signage
* Ability to read and interpret fabrication and technical drawings
* Strong understanding of folded metal work, trays, and returns
* Experience producing high-quality finishes suitable for client-facing signage
* Confident using workshop machinery and hand tools
* Good mathematical skills and ability to work in millimetres
* Reliable, proactive, and able to work on own initiative
* Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and good sense of humour
