Band 6 Research Nurse Advert

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 research nurse on the fast-paced, innovative Neurology Day Unit at a leading teaching hospital in East London.We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with experience working in research, who are willing to gain and develop knowledge on different neurological conditions, with a focus on motor neurone disease. We seek someone who will complement and encourage the existing team.

The post-holder will support the senior clinical trials manager in the smooth running of clinical trial activity on the unit, taking a leading role in the innovative MND SMART trial.The post holder will provide support to members of the team and carries responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of care and setting standards for patients participating in research.

The post holder will be responsible for managing their own workload under supervision from the senior clinical trials manager. The post holder will work within a team which will consist of neurologists, staff nurses and Healthcare Support workers.This job will offer the applicant the opportunity to explore areas of clinical research as well as performing clinical duties in a supportive environment with scope to grow both professionally and clinically. You could be a part of new emerging treatments for neurology as well as improving the experience and quality of life of patients with chronic neurological conditions.

This post will involve caring for patients at all stages of their journey through the MND SMART trial, from recruitment through to study completion. The post holder is expected to embrace the paperless aspect of the unit and complete the required training for use of the different technologies and systems involved in maintaining effective and timely documentation.

Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 months.

Please note: When calculating the basic salary for sponsorship, HCAS (High-Cost Area Supplement) is not included for non-medical roles. This ensures fairness and consistency within our organization, as some of our sites fall under inner HCAS, while others are classified as outer HCAS.
