Compliance Consultant (Financial Services)

  • Location: Liverpool City Centre
  • Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm (35 hours per week, 1‑hour lunch)
  • Salary: Dependent on experience

Are you an experienced Compliance professional with strong monitoring expertise and a deep understanding of pensions and investments? This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing compliance function at a pivotal time, as the business transitions from legacy monitoring processes to more advanced technology‑driven systems.

We are seeking a highly skilled Compliance Consultant who can hit the ground running, bringing proven compliance monitoring capability, excellent technical skills, and the confidence to operate in a complex financial services environment.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Consultant is responsible for ensuring the business operates professionally and in line with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal procedures.

This role plays a critical part in safeguarding regulatory compliance by focusing on:

  • Proactive monitoring activity
  • Detailed breach investigation and root cause analysis
  • Horizon scanning to identify emerging risks
  • Producing insightful Management Information (MI) for senior leadership and the Board

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Strong experience in a Compliance, Internal Audit, or Monitoring role.
  • Solid understanding of pensions and investments, including how operational processes work in practice (e.g., investment operations, pensions administration).
  • Excellent IT literacy - able to navigate compliance platforms, databases, and reporting tools with ease.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to explain complex regulatory concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively, and operate to tight timeframes.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and detail‑driven.
  • Experience producing MI and providing insights to senior stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Experience implementing or developing compliance monitoring frameworks.
  • Knowledge of GRC tools or data‑driven monitoring systems.
  • Relevant compliance or audit qualifications.
