Description:
I am currently recruiting for a team of Personal Assistants who are warm, kind-hearted, and softly spoken for my 18-year-old daughter who loves water play and all things sensory. She loves to be engrossed in messy play activities, watching her iPad, listening to music and dancing. D is an active, energetic young lady who likes to be on the go, D loves to access the outdoors, playing at the park or walking in woodland areas. Although after school, D loves to chill out and be relaxed in her up and coming newly transformed space for her and her Personal Assistants to enjoy, accompanied by her iPad and TV to help her relax and unwind. D can display some challenging behaviour which is often a way for her to communicate her needs, for example accessing sensory activities to remain regulated. D has a diagnosis of autism and learning disability but is a character and very much her own person, never letting the ‘social norm’ or society get in her way!
Hours:
There are no hours specified as this is a flexible role and would depend what hours you would be able to offer. This can be further discussed at screening/ interview stage.
Examples of the hours would be:
Before and after School
Weekends
Overnights
Additional hours in the school holidays
Holiday cover
Wage:
£12.21 per hour
Mileage and expenses to be paid by the family when on days out in the community.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Person centred support with daily activities
Assisting with personal care, showering, dressing, and general care
Lots of play time including water play activities and other messy play sensory activities
D loves to go in the community and access local areas during quieter periods e.g. the local park, woods, beach etc.
Helping D relax at home and unwind
Prompting and supporting eating with cutlery

There is no expectation of training or qualifications, this role is about how the Personal Assistant could enhance D’s life and help her with her daily routine and fit into the family home, work alongside a team and support our family by holding the truly rewarding role of supporting D.
Essential Criteria:
All applicants should be Female Only, this is in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010

Able to work well under pressure
Have excellent communication skills
Personable
Willing to learn and be trained on how best to support and work effectively with D and in her family home
Able to think ‘outside the box’ for activities to support sensory regulation
Desirable Criteria:
An experienced driver with a full clean driving licence
Have an understanding and experience of working with individuals with autism
Have an understanding and experience of working with individuals with a learning disability
Previous training de-escalation
