About the Role
Luma Education Recruitment are working on behalf of one of our clients, a small but rapidly expanding SEN school in Coventry, to recruit a qualified SEN Teacher. The school supports pupils aged 7–18, although the majority of learners will be taught a earlier curriculum level.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate teacher who is committed to inclusive education and is looking to make a real difference within a supportive, forward-thinking SEN setting.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and differentiated lessons aligned with a primary-level curriculum
Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and associated learning needs
Plan lessons in line with EHCP outcomes and individual learning plans
Create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
Implement effective, trauma-informed behaviour management strategies
Track progress and maintain accurate assessment and reporting records
Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leadership
Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external professionals
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching children or young people with SEN
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach to teaching
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in an SEN school, alternative provision, or specialist setting
Confidence teaching across a wide age range at primary curriculum level
Experience supporting pupils with complex needs or SEMH
