Our partner schools include mainstream primaries and secondaries, specialist settings and academies that require skilled leaders who can step in quickly and make an immediate impact. These schools offer supportive senior leadership teams, established SEND departments and a strong commitment to ensuring every pupil receives the right support at the right time.
Your new role
As an interim SENCo through Hays, you'll take on a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining high quality SEND provision. Depending on the school's needs, your responsibilities may include:

  • Overseeing and coordinating SEND provision across the school
  • Leading on EHCP processes, reviews and statutory requirements
  • Supporting teachers with differentiation, intervention planning and pupil progress
  • Managing and developing support staff and specialist teams
  • Liaising with external agencies, families and local authority professionals
  • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and school policies
  • Providing strategic guidance to SLT during periods of transition or staffing gaps

Assignments range from short term cover to longer interim placements, with both full‑time and part‑time options available.

What you'll need to succeed

  • NASENCo qualification (or willingness to work towards it)
  • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and statutory processes
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Confidence in leading staff, managing caseloads and driving inclusive practice
  • The ability to adapt quickly, work independently and provide stability during periods of change

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive pay aligned with your teaching scale point.
  • Flexibility to choose the type of work that suits you-day to day supply, short term blocks or longer term placements.
  • Access to a wide range of professional development opportunities, including free CPD courses and webinars through the Hays learning platform.
  • Easy to use digital tools to manage timesheets, book holidays, access training and explore wellbeing resources via the Hays App.
  • Referral bonuses - earn £250 in vouchers when you refer a friend who completes 20 days of work with Hays.
  • Ongoing career support, including a complimentary CV review and guidance from a dedicated education consultant
