Ecology Team - Nurturing Nature, Sustaining Life
An exciting opportunity awaits a Nature Recovery Project Officer! If you're passionate about making a meaningful difference join our expanding team and play a key part in the innovative Climate Environment service.
Our Ecology team sits within our service focussed on Wiltshire's natural and historical landscape. Committed to safeguarding and revitalising the region's wildlife, we advocate for sustainable well-planned growth that meets the needs of people, nature, and the climate. Our efforts focus on driving nature recovery, enhancing community access to countryside areas, and preserving vital wildlife habitats.
As a Nature Recovery Project Officer, you will act as a specialist for environmental issues providing specialist and technical advice to officers across the Council, members of the public, including landowners and community groups, and helping us to deliver environmental improvement projects in the county.
You will undertake reviews of plans and assessments and advise on improvements, carry out site inspections, assess compliance with relevant policies and legislation and undertake negotiations with agents and applicants and external partners to secure improvements to developments.
Our ideal candidate would ideally hold a degree in ecology or a related environmental field or demonstrate a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in providing ecological or environmental advice. A strong knowledge and understanding of relevant national planning and environmental policy will be essential, along with a self-motivated attitude and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects within specified timelines.
Why us?
Wiltshire Council is a friendly, welcoming place to work, with a 'One Council' ethos. That’s why we focus on getting the things that matter to our people right.
Please download and read the role description and person specification carefully before you apply as well as Our Identity.
