A fantastic non‑teaching leadership role for an experienced and passionate SEN professional
A thriving three‑form entry primary school with a warm, community‑centred ethos is seeking an exceptional non‑teaching SENCO to lead and elevate SEND provision across the school based in Tower Hamlets. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who thrives in a supportive environment, values strong relationships, and is committed to ensuring every child receives the personalised support they deserve.
About the School Environment
A diverse, vibrant setting with a rich SEND profile, including pupils with ASD, ADHD, Speech & Language needs, and a high proportion of EAL learners. Genuinely supportive Senior Leadership Team who champion inclusion and value the SENCO's expertise. Hosts a warm, collaborative atmosphere where staff feel encouraged, trusted, and empowered to innovate. A welcoming community that celebrates individuality and places children's wellbeing at the heart of everything.
The SENCO Role (Non‑Teaching)
Although this is a non‑teaching position, the SENCO plays a highly visible and hands‑on role across the school. Responsibilities include:
Classroom Support & Modelling
- Working directly with pupils who have EHCPs, providing targeted in‑class support.
- Modelling effective teaching strategies to strengthen classroom practice and empower teachers and support staff.
- Ensuring high‑quality, consistent provision across all phases.
Liaison & Multi‑Agency Coordination
- Building strong relationships with external professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other agencies.
- Coordinating assessments, interventions, and follow‑up actions to ensure seamless support for each child.
Leadership, Monitoring & Communication
- Providing clear, strategic feedback to senior leaders to inform whole‑school SEND development.
- Maintaining accurate records, monitoring provision, and ensuring statutory compliance.
- Leading on SEND reviews, provision mapping, and EHCP processes.
Parent Partnership & Community Support
- Hosting parent drop‑in sessions to strengthen home-school collaboration.
- Offering guidance, strategies, and reassurance to families navigating SEND support.
- Building trusting, compassionate relationships with parents and carers.
To be successful
The ideal candidate will be a SENCO who brings warmth, expertise, and a genuine passion for inclusive education. Essential requirements include:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- NASENCO Award
- Previous Primary SENCO experience
- A compassionate, approachable, and engaging manner
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- A proactive, solution‑focused approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
Why This Role Stands Out
- A truly supportive SLT who value your voice and expertise
- A positive, friendly staff culture where collaboration is central
- A school that invests in professional development and wellbeing
- The chance to shape SEND provision in a setting that genuinely puts children first
If you are a dedicated SENCO who thrives in a nurturing, dynamic environment and wants to make a lasting difference, this role offers the perfect platform to do exactly that.
