Neway International are seeking a Gardener (Grade 4) to join our client based with Cardiff Council.

Location: Wedal Road, Cardiff
Hours: 32 per week
Start / End Dates: 07/04/2026 – 02/10/2026

Working Pattern: 07:30 – 16:00


About the Client
Cardiff Council’s Economic Development team is responsible for maintaining high‑quality outdoor environments across the city. Their work supports community wellbeing, enhances public spaces, and ensures that parks, sports facilities, and green areas are maintained to a professional standard. The service is entering a planned peak period and requires additional seasonal support.

The Role
This role supports the delivery of grounds and sports turf maintenance across Cardiff’s outdoor spaces. You will contribute to the upkeep of sports pitches, landscaped areas, and public grounds, ensuring they are safe, well‑presented, and maintained to the required standards throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities
Carry out sports turf maintenance, including mowing, line marking, aeration, and pitch preparation.

Maintain landscaped areas, including planting, pruning, weeding, and general grounds upkeep.

Operate machinery and equipment safely and in line with training and procedures.

Work as part of a team to meet service deadlines during peak seasonal demand.

Ensure all work is completed to a high standard with accuracy and attention to detail.

Follow health and safety guidelines and contribute to a safe working environment.

Candidate Requirements
Recognised qualification in sports turf maintenance or demonstrable experience in sports turf maintenance.

Previous experience in a similar grounds or gardening role.

Ability to work as part of a team and meet deadlines under pressure.

Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to drive.

Flexible and able to meet the demands of the role.

Good IT skills.

GCSEs (A–C or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.

Relevant professional‑level qualification (passed).
