Dolly’s Doggy Day Care offers boarding & Grooming with a secure garden for the dogs to run around in and a relaxation area and comfortable bed if they want some time out.
The opportunity to work and learn from multi award and international award winning dog groomers and dog boarder, with over 20 years experience. Amanda has a passion for caring for dogs ensuring they are secure, happy and well looked after whilst their owners are away. Dolly’s Dog is a real home from home. The apprentice will be working in the dog boarding and dog grooming areas of the business. Alongside this they will also be caring for a small herd of horses situated just a short drive from the day care.

Duties will included but not limited to;

Walking
Feeding & providing fresh water for the day care and boarding dogs
Keeping bedding, Crates and the dog area clean and tidy
Managing dogs and introducing new dogs into the group
Reception duties, answering the phone & booking in appointments speaking with clients when they come to pick up and drop of their dogs
Keeping the garden tidy and dispose of dog waste
Mucking out horses
Turning out and Catching in (horses)
General yard and field duties (equine)
You will have the opportunity to gain hands on experience, within the day care, boarding and grooming field, you not only learn to interact and care for dogs of all breeds and ages, you will also have the chance to bath them.

You will gain professional guidance and mentorship and have the opportunity to work along side experienced professionals, this hands on mentorship will help develop skills, build confidence and ensure you receive proper training and education in the field.

Part of the role will also include caring for a small herd of horses situated just a short drive from the day care.

Please consider the location of this vacancy, the employer is looking for a local and reliable apprentice. This vacancy offers higher than the apprenticeship wage along side invaluable training. You will need the means to be able to get to work on time and be flexible to help business needs.

Some level of dog handling even if its their own dog
Basic cleaning skills

Desired Qualifications

Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C/4 or above
Applicants must not already hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in the animal care sector to be eligible for this apprenticeship.
Future Prospects

Full time employment.
Training

Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment.
The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 2 animal care apprenticeship.
The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on-site visit throughout the apprenticeship.
The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.
Things to Consider

The successful application will need to access to a car due to the business location, public transport is not a viable option for the commute.
