The School of Health Professions at the University of Plymouth is delighted to invite applications for this role, contributing to the delivery of one of the UK’s original BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science programmes.

Our educational philosophy is centred on developing contemporary, autonomous practitioners with strong professional values and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Teaching is grounded in sound theoretical knowledge and focused on the development of practical and clinical skills. We benefit from a strong partnership approach to interprofessional learning, with several modules shared across a range of professional groups within the undergraduate programme. In addition, the School offers extensive research potential, supported by collaborative opportunities across the Faculty of Health and the wider University.

The School of Health Professions is primarily located at InterCity Place on the main University of Plymouth campus, situated in the city centre adjacent to the train station.

About the role

As a Lecturer in Paramedic Science at the University of Plymouth, you will play a key role in:

• Delivering high-quality, evidence-based teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Paramedic programmes
• Supporting student learning and development through academic guidance, feedback and pastoral care
• Contributing to curriculum design, assessment processes and programme quality assurance in Paramedic Science
• Engaging in research, scholarship or professional practice that enhances teaching and contributes to the wider profession
• Working collaboratively with academic colleagues and clinical partners to support interprofessional learning and high-quality practice-based education

This is a permanent, part-time position working 22.2 hours per week. You will be required to work on-site.

About you

We are seeking an inspirational individual to join our well-established and progressive Paramedic Science team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to teaching, learning and research within the discipline. You will:

• Be a registered Paramedic (or relevant health professional) with appropriate clinical and/or academic experience
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of contemporary Paramedic practice and the evolving role of Paramedics within healthcare
• Show a clear commitment to high-quality education, inclusive practice and student-centred learning
• Possess excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills suited to an academic environment
• Be committed to ongoing professional development and the maintenance of HCPC registration (or equivalent professional registration)

Due to the nature of this role, an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check plus a Children’s Barred List and Adults Barred List check will be required.

The successful candidate may be required to obtain an ATAS Certificate prior to this research being undertaken.
