If you are looking to progress your career and demonstrate your clinical and leadership and management abilities, this may be the job for you. The role will also bring you into contact with many surgical specialties across the Trust and with support from a team of experienced pharmacists and technicians you will be able to target the review of high risk patients to ensure medicines are optimised and patient safety is improved. As a senior member of the pharmacy team you will also be expected to produce guidelines, undertake audits / research and provide support and training to nursing staff, pharmacy technicians, junior pharmacists and students. To be successful you will need to become part of the multidisciplinary team so attendance on ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings are likely to be required. This is an exciting time to become part of the pharmacy team at Newcastle, where under the leadership of our new Director of Pharmacy, the team is set to grow and take on several new roles in other areas of the Directorate. To organise and develop clinical pharmacy services within agreed clinical area To undertake an agreed prescribing role within agreed clinical area To participate in the provision of clinical and patient services functions To promote the safe, rational and cost effective use of medicines by working closely with nursing and medical staff and health care managers To perform the professional role of a registered pharmacist, including advice, supervision and co-operation with colleagues, particularly in relation to support/cover for absent colleagues
