About the job.
National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Data & Intelligence Analyst to join our central Performance Team within the Operations Directorate.
This is an opportunity for individuals looking to advance their career in analysis, and gain hands on experience in a thriving, flexible, and supportive workplace. Within this role, you will support Operations, at both a national and regional level, to improve its performance by undertaking data analysis and modelling activities, creating reporting material to derive intelligence that provides valuable insight, to drive improvements and make recommendations that support investment and decision making.
It's an exciting time to join our passionate and dynamic team as we work to support a performance culture making a difference within Operations on a daily basis. The role covers a varied remit liaising with stakeholders across the organisation, to understand and further improve performance, providing insight and shared understanding of KPIs and the performance of every area of our work. You will also play a role in the development of visual dashboards (within Power BI and other software) to aid our story telling.
Please note this is a hybrid position and can be based in any of our offices across England. Currently the company expects that you will work away from home (e.g. the office, team meetings) for at least 2 days a week. Regular travel to Newton-le-Willows to meet with the team will be required.
- The gathering, analysing and monitoring of relevant data from Operations, to explore patterns, cause and effect and trends within the business.
- Identifying opportunities to improve Operations safety, customer, and delivery performance through the innovative use of data analysis and insights.
- Perform regional and national demand and performance monitoring modelling with analytics tools and techniques.
- Apply and, where appropriate, enhance and/or develop analysis and decision- making support tools, which demonstrate good industry practice.
- To champion data quality and integrity in Operations, providing coaching and support to regional colleagues involved in data entry or capture.
About you.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work on own initiative to take ownership and responsibility of lead areas, with a demonstrated track record of managing relationships with multiple stakeholders with evidence of skills to influence relationships for positive outcomes
- Ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines and have excellent attention to detail
- Extensive experience in working with varied sets of data to extract meaningful business and performance insights / relevant qualification.
- Excellent skills using standard office software products, proficient in MS Excel, to enable production and maintenance of a range of complex documents and spreadsheets and ability to use specialist software (for example, Power BI) / IT to collate data and produce relevant reports, proactively providing informed analysis, identifying areas of insight and forecasting / trends

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale, while current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
