The successful candidates will:
• Support in the creation and lead on the interpretation of analytics.
• Have good analytical, technical and communication skills in order to aid the production of accurate & robust statistics & intelligence.
• Support the organisation by managing the production of robust statutory and internal reports to support organisational decision making.

The successful candidate(s) will also have to possess excellent numeracy, logical and communication skills, be educated to A-Level in relevant subjects or have equivalent experience & knowledge in the Analytics/Business Intelligence sphere.

Please note, this post is offerded as secondment cover until the return of the original postholder, which is expected to return on the 1st December 2026. Whilst this post is for secondment cover, it may become permanent or extended in the future.
• To assist with the production, validationand submission of the Trusts routine data submissions.
• To assist members of the team in the production and validation of Adhoc or High Profile Analytics, assisting in the validation of new or amended Dashboards.
• The post holder will require good technical and analytic skills in order to produce or validate intelligence or dashboards.
• The post holder should also have a good awareness of the Trusts external environment in order to identify & respond to variations from the local or national trends or analytics / reports produced externally.
• This is a hybrid working role where the successful candidate(s) will be required to commute into the Wigan office at a minimum of one day per week and will be flexible to the needs of the department and trust.

• To take a lead role in the production, validation and submission of the Trusts National Datasets, Statutory Returns and other routine outputs.
• To assist with the Validation of new or amended Dashboards, Datasets or other outputs produced by the department.
• To assist in the Production and Validation of Adhoc or High Profile Analytics and developments.
• To offer first Line support for BI queries & requests, monitoring and managing the BI mailbox, helpline and other methods of communication.
• To assist in the provision of statistical/management intelligence and advice to the Divisional Director of Performance, Divisional Clinical Director, Performance Managers, Divisional Heads of Department and other managers within the relevant Directorates.
• Assist in the implementation and monitoring of reporting mechanisms to improve Management Decision Making process.
• Meet with stakeholders to ensure that any potential opportunities or issues are identified early enough for action to be effective.
• To have responsibility for any intelligence produced, validated or submitted
• To undertake process mapping to understand issues in key areas to inform accurate reporting requirements and aid improvement.
• To support the quality and safety improvement within the division by providing analysis and guidance on measurement, reporting and data capture requirements.
• In conjunction with the Analytics team produce and review regular weekly and monthly performance reports and disseminate to key divisional contacts. Provide advice and support to divisional staff to aid interpretation of the reports and alerts to key managers about anomalies and adverse variances.
• Liaise with the accountants to ensure a full understanding of activity issues affecting financial performance in order that the divisions can be supported with appropriate intelligence in understanding pertinent action and decisions necessary to rectify poor performance.
• Play a key role in obtaining divisional agreement and ownership of performance targets by providing information to support divisional understanding of capacity and demand.
• Update bed models to support ongoing monitoring, creating scenarios for business planning and service redesign, liaising with Project Management Office (PMO) and key leads.
• Liaise with the other analysts to ensure consistent reporting of activity, performance, styles and formatting.
• Undertake constant horizon scanning to keep ahead of what is coming next to be prepared and aware of any business opportunities through review of HED benchmarking tools, advising and support the division/Trust accordingly.
• Contribute to improvement plans through routine reviews and monitoring of performance, providing briefing reports with summary with findings and recommendations to divisional directors of performance and divisional managers.
• Produce sensitive and confidential data for ad-hoc requests. Liaise with other departments and outside agencies to ensure that all deadlines, particularly tight deadlines, are met.
• Perform complicated patient based analyses from Trust’s systems to tight deadlines. To use the tools provided primarily by (but not restricted to) the data warehouse.
• Support the development of the data warehouse to enable greater and wider use of data/information for intelligence and Service Line Management. This will involve working closely with the data warehouse project team to ensure co-operation of developments on the system.
• Interpretation of national guidance/definitions and implementation of changes to the data warehouse, databases, tables or views in accordance with guidance.
• Support the data quality responsibilities of data analytics projects through the identification of data anomalies, provision of appropriate analyses and participation in investigations / audits. Ensuring that any issues are recorded and followed up and contribute to processes put in place to reduce the risk of reoccurrence.
• To provide analytical advice and support for initiatives aimed at introducing or changing data collection / analysis practices for example, HRGs, Payment by Results.
• Access and compile routine reports and undertake ad-hoc analyses for reporting and presenting
• Attend / participate in Trust training programmes, both within the department and with multi-disciplinary audiences.
• To be conversant with all developments and trends in multimedia design and any associated technologies in particular QlikSense.
• To act as a catalyst within the Trust to develop a ‘data driven culture by providing advice, guidance and general support on information management and data quality issues.
• To assist with adding content to and maintaining the online analytics system.
• To assist with the design and development of analytics applications, in conjunction with Trust staff, both clinical and non-clinical.
• To assist in the maintenance of web based material produced by the team and creating new documents as required.
• To work on other multimedia projects within the team as requested.
• To be aware of national developments within the NHS and the wider data analytics community.
• To utilise any other design software at their disposal to create the necessary media for use in a variety of projects.
• To work with end users in assessing their reporting needs to share with data engineers who are developing solutions, web based documents that provide the required information.
• Provide training sessions on a group or individual basis as and when required.
• Work with other Digital teams to ensure that the most up to date datasets and feeds are available via the data warehouse, tables and databases to ensure that reporting and submissions are based on the most accurate data definitions available.
• Work with users to resolve problems and issues with analytical reporting.
• Conduct briefing sessions and assist in the provisions of training days for in relation to the use and interpretation of the data analytics applications.
• Document all procedures and work closely with the Production & Modernisatio Department to ensure the ongoing improvement in Trust Information.
• Assist with the the on-going support of IT solutions developed within the data analytics and assurance department.
• Support the Trust’s Data Strategy, quality and quality improvement strategies and Service Line Management agenda.
• Assist with the provision of advice and analyses to support the operational management and service planning requirements, and attend divisional/ corporate meetings as required
• Absorb, interpret and understand current data definitions and definitional issues in relation to areas of specialism & personal knowledge in this area as and when ISN’s or new Department of Health definitions are drafted and/or formally issued.
• · Produce and safeguard sensitive and confidential data for ad-hoc requests.
• · Liaise with other departments and outside agencies to ensure tight deadlines are met.
• To troubleshoot issues regarding data and to consistently work toward improving and automating the processes with data engineers.
• Research and recommend innovation, and where possible automated approaches for data analytics reporting.
• Liaise with the Trust’s Database Administrator and other IM&T technical leads where appropriate.
• Assist with the production of sophisticated models, analytics and forecasts using statistical models, methods and processes.
• Provide an opportunity for one to one advice and discussion with individual Trust Staff who require advice and support with business intelligence data, giving guidance where necessary.
• Assists with Analytic training sessions on a group or individual basis.
• Monitor their associated Service Level Agreement and the Performance against it.
• To assist with the provision of data literacy training to non-technical staff within the Trust and to organisations utilising the Trusts onsite training facilities.
• Help promote & train on new data analytics solutions to ensure they are fully utilised within the Trust.
• Assist with the identification of efficiencies, while considering the potential knock-on effect to safety,quality and performance.
• Provide the Divisions / Trust with performance reports that take into account productivity, quality, income and expenditure, risks & forecasts.
• Identify Data and Service Quality issues and participate in the development of new metrics to highlight these issues for resolution.
• Review the Divisions or Trust’s performance in relation to national and local trends and highlight and explain any significant variations.
