Are you ready to swap the mainstream grind for a role where you can truly change a life?
Do you have the resilience to see past challenging behaviour to the potential beneath?
Could you be the spark that ignites a student's passion for discovery?
Randstad Education is looking for a dedicated and charismatic Science Teacher to join a leading Alternative Provision in Birmingham. This is a unique opportunity to work within a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting, supporting students who require a bespoke approach to learning.
The RoleIn this environment, "Science" is more than just a curriculum, it's a way to engage students with the world around them. You will be responsible for:
-
Delivering engaging Science lessons to small groups of students (KS3/KS4).
-
Managing complex social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
-
Adapting traditional practicals to ensure safety and engagement in an SEN setting.
-
Building strong, trusting relationships with students who have faced barriers to education.
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following:
-
UK Teaching Experience: A proven track record of teaching within the UK education system is essential.
-
Strong SEN Background: Extensive experience working with SEMH, ASD, or ADHD within a PRU or specialised SEN environment.
-
QTS/QTLS: Full teaching qualification with a specialisation in Science.
-
Resilience: A "can-do" attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Working in an Alternative Provision in Birmingham is incredibly rewarding. You will benefit from smaller class sizes, a supportive multidisciplinary team, and the chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of vulnerable young people in the West Midlands.
