Neway International are seeking a Social Worker – Adults (Social Care Qualified) to join our client based with Thurrock Council.

Location: New Road, Grays, Essex, RM17 6SL
Hours: 7 per day
Rate:

PAYE: £21.53 per hour

Limited/Umbrella: £28.69 per hour
Work Pattern: 2 days in the office (Mondays and Thursdays) and 3 days remote working

About the Client
Thurrock Council’s Adults and Health directorate supports vulnerable adults across the borough, ensuring safe, person‑centred, and outcome‑focused practice. The Transitions Team works with young adults moving from Children’s Services into Adult Social Care, providing tailored support that promotes independence, wellbeing, and long‑term stability.

The Role
The Social Worker will deliver high‑quality, professional support to transitioning young adults, carrying out strength‑based assessments in line with the Care Act 2014. You will work directly with individuals in crisis or at risk of crisis, develop outcome‑focused care plans, and ensure people remain safe and well within their communities.

This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively across health, education, voluntary, and statutory partners.

Key Responsibilities
Complete strength‑based assessments and set clear, person‑centred objectives with service users.

Work directly with individuals in or approaching crisis to understand their wishes and needs.

Develop outcome‑focused care and commissioning plans.

Provide a respectful, sensitive, and anti‑discriminatory service at all times.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of research, legislation, and best practice in adult social care.

Attend training, workshops, supervision, and performance development sessions.

Contribute to departmental service plans and continuous improvement.

Ensure all work recognises and responds to the diverse needs of the population.

Follow Inter‑Agency Safeguarding procedures and escalate safeguarding concerns appropriately.

Undertake Mental Capacity Act assessments where required.

Complete Continuing Health Care checklists.

Prepare high‑quality reports for court and multi‑agency meetings within required timescales.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across children’s services, health, education, voluntary, and independent sectors.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England.

Experience supporting young adults or adults within statutory social care.

Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, safeguarding, and person‑centred practice.

Ability to work flexibly across office and remote settings.

Excellent communication, assessment, and report‑writing skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners.
