About you:

To be successful in this role, you must have a passion and will for supporting people and working across a number of key stakeholders to make a difference to peoples lives.

Being enthusiastic, calm, patient, positive in your approach and self-motivated will help you in carrying out your role, in leading the Community Safety Team and Safer Exeter.

You must have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience from working within a complex multi-agency setting at a senior level, addressing Anti-Social Behaviour and or criminal activity.

The role creates strategies and action plans which meet the long-term needs of communities, maximising the use of resources to create beneficial outcomes and sustainable solutions for our residents. To enable you to complete this, you must be able to interpret and analyse complex data from multiple sources, to develop strategic action plans addressing areas of concern.

You must have excellent knowledge of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act and its relevance and implementation for community safety and social cohesion.

You must have excellent communication and negotiating skills, working with a wide range of public services, statutory organisations, businesses, as well as the VCSE community that support our most vulnerable members of our community.

You must be politically aware at all times in delivering your work.



About the role:

The Community Safety Partnership Manager will manage and coordinate the City Council’s response to the Safer Exeter Action Plan, acting as a central point of contact in the coordination of meetings, activity, monitoring and in providing updates on progress.

You will lead, coordinate, facilitate and oversee multi-agency activity and efforts to reduce Anti-Social Behaviour and crime across Exeter to improve community safety and to promote community social cohesion across the city.

Researching, developing and implementing the Safer Exeter Action Plan will be an important responsibility of this position. The role will lead on developing strategies that intervene early to prevent and reduce crime in our City Centre, neighbourhoods and communities.

The successful candidate will play an important role in co-ordinating and facilitating activity and responses from the City Council, which would include officers from Housing, Environmental Health, Cleansing and Legal, this would also include other partner agencies and stakeholders.

The role will be working in partnership and collaboration with a wide range of key stakeholders from across Exeter, including the police, health services, voluntary organisations, and the local community to develop and deliver strategic safety initiatives.

This role line manages the supervisor of the Community Safety Team, the team includes six Community Safety Team officers that cover our city centre, parks and open spaces, cemeteries and neighbourhood shopping precincts areas to address complaints of anti-social behaviour, stray dogs, enviro crime and encampments.

In undertaking the role, the successful candidate may be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.



About the team:

The team are located within the Place department, working towards the City Council’s Corporate Plan and the People Priority, with the intended outcome of – “A safe and thriving city with great things to see and do for everyone”.

External partnership working will be an important success factor of the team, in working collaboratively addressing crime, ASB, encampments and stray dogs across the City Centre and the rest of Exeter.

The community safety team will work in close partnership with the Control Room, Exeter Business Against Crime, InExeter, Devon & Cornwall Police and Devon County Council in addressing, recording and monitoring ASB and criminal activity. The Community Safety Team officers are a visible presence to deter and address ASB, enviro crime, stray dogs and encampments across the whole of Exeter.
