Summary


Applications are invited for at least 6 months Trust Doctor (ST5+) in Gynaecological Oncology post at Royal London Hospital to commence as soon as possible.

Training in the surgical management of gynaecological malignancies, together with non-surgical management including medical oncology, radiotherapy and palliative care will be provided within the context of the Gynaecology Oncology Team

Applicants must have completed at least ST5 of higher training or equivalent, have prior experience in Gynaecology Oncology. This post is not approved for training.If applying from outside the Deanery, approval for Out of Programme Training must be obtained, and candidates should discuss their application with their Training Programme Director.

The trainee will be responsible for the pre-operative assessment, intra-operative management and post-operative care of all patients with gynaecological cancer.

The trainee will attend at least 1 gynaecological oncology lists each week. Concomitant operating lists in colorectal surgery, urological surgery and vascular surgery exist and the post holder will be encouraged to avail himself/herself of this breadth of expertise.

The trainee will attend weekly gynaecological oncology clinics and Rapid Access clinics.

In addition, the trainee may conduct a colposcopy clinic. All clinics will be performed with consultant supervision.

Other Aspects of the post
The post holder will, with the other subspecialty fellow, be responsible for daily ward rounds
with the junior medical staff. This post has emphasis on diagnostic clinics thereby, postholder
will be expected to attend rapid access clinics.

We are fortunate to have a close working relationship with the Department of Histopathology and diagnostic radiology. The trainee will be responsible for the co-ordination of the weekly MDT meetings with our MDM co-ordinator, presenting patient’s details and implementing management plans post MDM.

Medical Audit
Barts Health NHS Trust has a medical audit department which is actively co-ordinating developments in this field. The post-holder would be expected to participate in the Directorate’s medical audit programme and our Departments monthly audit meetings.
