Rate of Pay: £13.50 per hour

Hour: 4 hours per week

About the Role
We’re looking for a warm, reliable and caring Personal Assistant to support a friendly and sociable 9-year-old boy living in the WV2 are of Wolverhampton. He’s looking for a Personal Assistant to help him live his life to the fullest—his way.

About the employer:
You’ll be supporting a young man with Autism, and severe learning difficulties. He has significant sensory needs and relies on familiarity and routine to feel secure. He shows a strong interest in technology, particularly his iPad and other electronic devices, which provide comfort and engagement. He is an affectionate child who enjoys physical reassurance, frequently smiling and laughing. A key source of comfort for this young man is his dressing gown, originally belonging to his parent, which he has used since toddlerhood and continues to offer him a sense of safety.

What You’ll Be Doing

A typical week could involve:

Duties to be completed
Support with toileting
Support with communication.
Managing sensory sensitivities.
Support with limited self-care.
Support with leaving the home and being out.
Support with transitions - appointments - meetings
Help with feeding (sometimes), including use of adapted utensils if needed
Monitoring hydration and nutrition

Sensory & Communication Support:
Respect sensory sensitivities (noise, touch, clothing, environment)
Avoid unnecessary physical contact unless required for safety
Use visual supports or simple prompts as directed
Observe and respond to non-verbal cues and behaviours

Personal Care:
• Support with toileting and assistance with handwashing and basic hygiene.

Requirements

Essential:
Full UK driving licence
Experience supporting children with autism and severe learning difficulties
Understanding of non-verbal communication
Awareness of sensory processing difficulties
Experience supporting children who experience meltdowns or emotional dysregulation
Understanding that behaviours are a form of communication
Follow my guidance, routines, and strategies always
Provide close supervision and ensure safety throughout session
Support emotional regulation and use agreed de-escalation strategies
Offer low-demand, child-led activities based on client’s tolerance
Remain flexible, as needs can change quickly

This role is funded by the Local Authority and paid every four weeks.
