The Admissions and Transport team is a busy team within the Education and Skills Service. It co-ordinates school applications for Cheshire East residents for Reception and Year 7 application as well as pupils moving between schools outside the main points of admission. The team work to meet the local authority’s obligations under the School Admissions Code. The Technical and Communications Officer leads on the technical side of online submission of school applications, website and social media.

About the Role:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join us in this role, you will provide specialist technical support for admissions processes, ensuring accurate data management and compliance with statutory requirements. You will liaise with ICT and Business Intelligence teams, maintain internal systems, and contribute to key publications such as the composite prospectus. The position involves supporting team objectives, producing reports, coordinating promotional materials, and delivering clear communication to schools, parents, and partner services. You will also play a key role in reviewing policies, managing late applications, and developing training for staff. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.

About you:
You will have;
• Experience in local authority or education sector; training others on IT systems; liaising with schools and parents to resolve admissions issues.
• Detailed understanding of admissions policies, statutory requirements, data protection, FOI, and confidentiality; awareness of council structures and processes.
• Advanced IT and database management skills; strong literacy, numeracy, and analytical ability; excellent communication; ability to organise workload and work collaboratively; proficiency in producing accessible promotional material.
• A flexible approach to work.
