Summary
Role Purpose
To provide high-quality academic, behavioural and pastoral support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Education, Health & Care Plans (EHCPs), enabling them to access learning, feel safe, and make strong personal and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
Student Support (SEN/SEMH/EHCP)
Deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions.
Implement personalised learning and behaviour strategies.
Support emotional regulation, social skills and independence.
Monitor, record and report student progress and concerns.
Teaching & Learning
Adapt learning materials and scaffold tasks.
Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy support.
Support classroom behaviour and whole-class learning.
Contribute to maintaining a calm, structured environment.
Pastoral Care
Build positive, trusting relationships with vulnerable learners.
Provide regular check-ins and support behaviour plans.
Supervise students during breaks, lunch and transitions.
Collaboration & Safeguarding
Work closely with teachers, SENCo, pastoral staff and external professionals.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers when required.
Follow safeguarding and confidentiality procedures at all times.
Wider Academy Duties
Support events, trips, extracurricular activities and training.
Carry out additional duties such as first aid or supervision as required.
Contribute positively to academy culture and values.
